merriman reeds


Merriman bassoon reeds are hand-made by bassoonist Sally Merriman, who works as a free-lance bassoonist in the Boston area. She has performed with such groups as the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the New Hampshire Philharmonic, the Radius Ensemble, Portland Symphony Orchestra, and Boston Virtuosi. For several years, she lived in Israel, where she held positions with the Tel Aviv Opera Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, and the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. Originally from Missouri, she received her Bachelor’s of Music degree from the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she studied with bassoonist Mark Popkin. She then studied at the Juillard School, with Don MacCourt, and privately in Tel Aviv, with Mordechai Rechtman.
